Leiston Theberton Middleton Westleton Eastbridge Sizewell

Difficulty 10 miles - 5 hours minimum — a walk for anyone who likes to accompany walking with the delights of good beer! Not just a pub crawl, this is a good days hike. All the pubs serve food and a selection of real ales.

Directions

You can start this walk from either Sizewell or Leiston. It is recommended that you should leave Leiston around 11am in order to arrived at Theberton at opening time. Allow an extra 40 minutes if you start from Sizewell.

From Leiston Engineers Arms, take the main road out of Leiston towards Yoxford. Immediately after crossing the railway track, turn left into Westward Ho. Follow this road until you reach a footpath next to a large house and nursery. Turn right into this footpath and continue through the alley and across the fields. The fields dip down and come back up to a road. Cross straight over the road and ollow the footpath until it comes to some farm buildings. Skirt around the farm buildings and onto a tarmaced track where you need to turn right. Keep on the track until it junctions with another road. Theberton can now be seen directly opposite. Cross the road and follow a footpath into the back of Theberton. the path comes out a few yards from the pub.

The Theberton Lion is a good place to stop for a drink. It serves a range of guest ales which are regularly changed. The courtyard at the rear of the pub is covered with grape vines.

From Theberton take the road out of the village opposite the pub and adjacent to the church. Follow this through to a bend in the road where a footpath on the left leads across the fields through to Middleton.One site not to miss is the metal statues looking out across the fields. They look quiet eerie from a distance and are not visible from the road. You have to walk this footpath to see them. Head for the statues and walk up past the houses to the Westleton Road. Walk up the road till you find the next footpath on the left and follow this which comes out in the center of Middleton village.

The Bell Inn, Middleton is situated just off the green and offers Adnams ales straight from the barrel.

There is no easy route through to Westleton from Middleton so you have to take the road. Nonetheless it is not too far. Westleton boasts two pubs, though it should be mentioned that the
